iPhone 4 lagi-lagi menjadi ponsel terlaris di 70 negara.

Artinya, iPhone 4 bertahan di posisi puncak sebagai ponsel terpopuler selama lima bulan berturut-turut sejak bulan Oktober tahun lalu.
Jika menilik kemampuan dan fiturnya, rasanya smartphone terakhir besutan Apple itu memang pantas menyabet gelar ponsel terlaris. Ia mendobrak pasar dengan fitur FaceTime yang membuat aktivitas video call lebih nyata dan benderang dibandingkan generasi sebelumnya.
Selain itu, iPhone 4 juga dilengkapi Retina display Apple terbaru yang memungkinkan tampilan beresolusi tertinggi yang pernah dihadirkan pada ponsel untuk menghasilkan teks, gambar, dan video yang lebih detail dan tajam.
Dalam daftar terbaru, Samsung Galaxy Tab berhasil memikat perhatian. Posisinya melejit enam peringkat ke posisi ke-2 dari posisi ke-8. Galaxy Tab merupakan tablet PC pertama Samsung yang hadir dengan layar 7-inci dan berbasis OS Android.
Selebihnya, penghuni daftar bulan ini kurang lebih sama. Ada HTC Desire HD, Nokia 3720 Classic, Nokia C5. Terdapat pendatang baru seperti HTC Wildfire sementara Nokia N8 hengkang dari daftar.

"Tablet lebih sering diperbincangkan belakangan ini," kata Ulf Sandberg, CEO Krusell, melalui keterangan resmi yang dikutip VIVAnews, Selasa 8 Maret 2011.
"Permintaan casing (pembungkus) Samsung Galaxy Tab sangat besar selama beberapa bulan terakhir. Sayangnya, daftar ini hanya menyajikan ponsel-ponsel dengan catatan penjualan terlaris, sebab itu Apple iPad tidak masuk dalam daftar. Jika diperhitungkan, iPad bisa ditempatkan di peringkat kedua."
"Ini akan sangat menarik untuk memperhatikan di mana posisi tablet perdana HTC. Saya kira HTC Flyer akan mulai masuk ke dalam daftar sejak kuartal kedua tahun 2011," tandas Sandberg.
Sebagaimana diketahui, pemilihan 10 ponsel di atas didasari pada daya serap konsumen terhadap produk-produk casing (pembungkus) ponsel sepanjang 2010, termasuk perangkat serta pernak-pernik portabelnya, yang diproduksi Krusell sebanyak lebih dari tiga juta unit rata-rata per tahun.
Daftar keluaran produsen pernak-pernik perangkat elektronik dan ponsel asal Swedia ini cukup unik mengingat data yang terkumpul merepresentasikan penjualan ponsel di 6 benua dan lebih dari 70 negara di seluruh dunia.

Menurut Sarwo Wargono, President Direktur PT Konten Indomedia Pratama, pemegang merek Ponsel IMO, konsumen hari ini tidak lagi hanya mencari ponsel dengan harga murah, tetapi juga mempertimbangkan kualitas suatu produk. Tentu saja, ini menjadi komponen yang sensitif bagi vendor ponsel lokal mengingat citra produk mereka cukup buruk karena secara rata-rata kualitasnya pas-pasan.
"Kunci utama agar suatu vendor ponsel merek lokal untuk bisa bertahan adalah menjaga kualitas produk dan mengubah strategi pemasaran di samping pelayanan purna jual," katanya dalam keterangan yang diterima VIVAnews, Rabu 6 April 2011.
"Tahun ini, pasar semakin matang, konsumen semakin cerdas. Beberapa merek lokal sudah menemukan jati dirinya masing-masing. Meski begitu, saya mengakui bahwa ponsel lokal masih menjadi produk alternatif," tandasnya.
Konsumen tidak lagi melihat sebuah ponsel sebagai instrumen yang mewah, atau sebatas alat telekomunikasi. Ponsel hari ini dianggap sebagai instrumen yang menunjang gaya hidup mereka, seperti ponsel fesyen, ponsel game, ponsel bisnis, dan seterusnya.
"Sebab itu, ke depan kami lebih memperhatikan fitur, desain, serta strategi pemasaran. Perlahan-lahan kami juga meninggalkan program bundling bersama operator secara nasional, dan cenderung memasarkannya sendiri tanpa mitra. Meski di daerah-daerah kami tetap menempuh jalur bundling untuk ekspansi pasar," tutur Sarwo.
Tak hanya IMO, sejumlah produsen ponsel merek lokal lain seperti PT FPX Indonesia dengan brand TOOT juga merilis ponsel yang mengandalkan desain stylish dan dual-camera, yaitu ponsel Qwerty seri Q302.
"Kini, ponsel merek lokal tak lagi cuma mengandalkan beragam aplikasi social networking, fasilitas chatting, memori besar hingga 8GB, sampai games dalam sebuah ponsel China berteknologi dual-on GSM. Pada ponsel Qwerty Q302, kami coba mengedepankan desain yang stylish," tutur Direktur Sales dan Marketing TOOT, Salimin, pada keterangan yang berbeda.
Tahun ini, Sarwo mengatakan, pertumbuhan ponsel lokal akan mengikuti pertumbuhan ponsel secara keseluruhan yang diramalkan mencapai 13 persen. Mengutip temuan A.C Nielsen, Sarwo memperkirakan komposisi ponsel merek lokal di pasar bisa menyentuh 50 persen dari jumlah ponsel secara keseluruhan yang tidak kurang dari 30 juta unit. Ponsel IMO sendiri diklaimnya telah menembus peringkat lima besar dari kurang lebih 100 merek lokal.
